About Chi

Chi Nguyen is the Member of Parliament for Spadina–Harbourfront, first elected in May 2025 with nearly 60% of the vote. In 2022, she ran as the Ontario Liberal candidate in Spadina–Fort York. She is the first woman of Vietnamese descent ever elected to political office in Ontario.

Before her election, she served as Executive Director of Equal Voice, Canada’s leading non-partisan organization dedicated to electing women. In that role, she focused on advancing systemic solutions, equity in political systems, and policy reform to strengthen women’s representation in public life.

She previously served as a Special Assistant to the Hon. Dr. Carolyn Bennett and completed the Parliamentary Internship Program, working with MPs Libby Davies and Sheila Copps. In 2001, she co-founded the Women in House program at McGill University which has since inspired hundreds of young women to engage in politics.

Her commitment to community engagement began early, when at the age of 12 she started volunteering in a downtown childcare program. This early foundation sparked over twenty years of leadership in civic and community initiatives, focused on fairness, inclusion, and equity. MP Nguyen holds a Master of Science in Social Psychology from the London School of Economics. She is a recipient of the Governor General’s Award (2003) and the YWCA’s Young Woman of Distinction Award (1999).

MP Nguyen is a mother of two, Sam and Ellis. As a working parent, she has been a strong advocate for childcare, transit, healthcare, and housing, issues that are central to the everyday lives of Canadians.

She brings to Ottawa the voices and stories of Spadina–Harbourfront and is deeply committed to building a more just, inclusive, and hopeful Canada.
